Study stay
A study permit for Spain allows foreigners to pursue studies in the country for a specific period. Requirements include a letter of admission from a Spanish educational institution, medical insurance, sufficient financial means to cover expenses during the stay, and not having been in an irregular situation in Spain.
The duration of the stay will be equal to the duration of the studies to be undertaken, with a maximum limit of one year (or two years for studies carried out at an authorized higher education institution leading to a recognized higher education degree). The application must be submitted to the Immigration Office or the Spanish Consulate in the country of origin.
If the application is submitted from within Spain, it is important to do so at least one month before the expiration date of the current authorization.
Students may be accompanied by family members, who must also apply for the corresponding visas.
They may be authorized to carry out employed or self-employed activities, provided they are compatible with their studies and do not exceed 30 hours per week, in the case of higher education, formal training for employment or training aimed at obtaining a professional certificate, or training leading to the certification of technical aptitude or professional qualification necessary for the exercise of a specific occupation.
