Residency for Minors Born in Spain
Residency for minors born in Spain refers to the right of these minors to obtain legal residency in the country, generally through their parents. It is essential that at least one parent has legal residency in Spain. The necessary documents include the minor’s birth certificate and the parents’ identification, as well as proof of their immigration status. The application must be submitted to the corresponding immigration office and may involve additional requirements depending on the parents’ status.
Residency for Minors Not Born in Spain
This authorization may be granted to minors not born in Spain, children of foreigners legally residing in Spain, or to minors legally under the guardianship of a Spanish citizen or institution, or of a foreigner legally residing in Spain.
To do so, the following requirements must be met:
- Proof of the minor’s continuous residence in Spain for a minimum period of two years.
- Proof of employment or sufficient financial resources of their parents or guardians to meet the family’s needs.
- Proof of adequate housing.
- If the minor is of compulsory schooling age, proof of enrollment in a school during their stay in Spain.
